What Are You A Product of....?

A greater understanding of others starts with a greater understanding of ones self

We are a product of our .... what??? Experiences? Circumstances? Environment? Upbringing? Beliefs?... I guess I could go on and I'm sure many will have their own thoughts and answers.

Surely there cannot be any doubt that it would be a mixture of them all that leads us to be who we are.

If we really think about it I guess we can look back on many experiences, events and choices we've made that have determined the direction and path in life we have taken, although some events may have been beyond our own control.

But even those events beyond our control give us a choice, on how we react in those moments of extreme highs or what can be even more telling, extreme lows.

I can trace back to those moments and events that have shaped me, my values and motivators and even to what I consider to be success. I'm sure we all have a different idea of what success looks like, but for me it's rather simple.

It's this mixture of what "we are a product of... " that if we are aware of not only ourselves, then this can lead us to have perhaps more empathy and compassion towards others when we are not aware of what they are a product of.

Having worked for many good and not so good managers I've gained more of an understanding of how we can achieve more by "Bringing Everyone Together". How we manage ourselves and those around us is key to achieving more harmonious relationships.

Underpinned by various people assessments (that have no biases or prejudices) we can improve our communication, collaboration and effectiveness by gaining a better understanding of ourselves and others and we can then understand "why we do what we do and in the way that we do it".

After all what "we are a product of..." is a different mixture for us all.
